Our story
madintobikes
I became a biker in late 2016, despite a mixture of parent’s fears and partner’s panics against the idea. But deep down I had always wanted to know how to ride a motorbike.
So eventually I just bit the bullet and said, let me do this for me.
I completed the CBT (compulsory basic training) , motorcycle theory, Module 1 and Module 2 tests, being over 24 yrs old I was able to do a direct access course, and the rest was history.
Some 40,000+ miles later, having rode in all four seasons, European rides, ride outs, bike meets, track days, customisations, services and repairs, I was well and truly addicted to this bike life.
My first bike was a brand new 2016 Kawasaki Z1000, Yup straight onto a 1000cc. On this non abs naked bike, I truly honed my skills, I rode this bike religiously, day and night, no matter what the weatherman said.
Then after 2 years I stepped up onto a 2018 Ninja H2SX, with its supercharged 199-bhp engine. My goodness, what a bike, to this day I still rate this bike high up there as the perfect jack of all trades. If it weren’t for the extra 40 plus kg it carries over most sports bikes, I’d probably still have it today. I took it on track a few times, and yes it was fun, but clearly the extra weight made a difference.
I could feel my desire to do more track days growing, so my thoughts were to get a second bike specifically for track days. However with limited space in the garage for another bike I decided to get a superbike. I researched them all extensively and had narrowed it down to the new 2021 model ZX10R. I headed down to my local Kawasaki dealership in order to get a test ride of the new model. Unfortunately for me, or maybe for Kawasaki, there were no demo bikes around, as I rang around the dealerships searching in vain. There were plenty of deals on the outgoing model, but I wanted the new one.
I went back to the drawing board, and given the 10k value I had on my H2SX, I scoured the market in search of a new bike. I came across a 2017 Ducati 1299S for around 12k, I had always looked at the Ducati sports bikes as out of my range. So quick maths I’d only have to pay an additional 2k-ish to get it, So I could actually own a Panigale. Ok so lets go and test ride this beast.
I made the arrangements for a test ride, and headed to Ducati Cambridge.
Lets just say, I went to test ride a 2017 Panigale 1299s, but instead I ended up test riding a 2021 Panigale V4S ‘WAAYYY’ over my budget. Drum roll please…
And my current bike today, is a 2021 Ducati Panigale V4S. Don’t say nothing.
I’ve ridden many other bikes in between, but the Ducati Panigale V4 is truly something special.
#Bikelife is not just a vice, but a culture, you have to be a part of it, to feel it, and to truly understand it.
MIB short for Madintobikes, or did my ‘Men in Black’ lookalike profession have an influence in the name? either way Mad Into Bikes (MiB) was created, a brand to represent my journey and the bike culture I have become a part of, to share with you! and the rest of the world.
So the question I put to you;
Are you MiB ?…….
